TELEWORK DURING LOCKDOWN.


With the widespread of crises, the economy all over the globe has been affected dramatically. World health organization (WHO) sighted the novel coronavirus as a pandemic on 11 March 2020 and enjoin the government to take expedient measures to protect their citizens and combat the same.

As an effective measure taken by the Government of India, the lockdown was initiated from 25 March 2020 which is the predecessor of 'Janta curfew'. Initially, because of the complete for lockdown, the Indian economy suffered a major setback as a result later, industrial sectors and other important sectors were opened to business. Teleworking is considered as a reliable way to carry out the business while following the lockdown


'Teleworking' or 'telecommunicating', in laymen language means work from. Office work is remotely operated through the internet, mail, telephone. Apart from the managing and or supervisory role, teleworking can be implemented where the job requires: reading, writing, research, assembling, or any other work-related with data or any other job where it can be done off-site without interruptions.

Before the pandemic, a considerable group of workers was employed through teleworking.


The study of 2018 states that almost a fourth of US workmen worked a few hours from home. Furthermore, as per the Eno Centre for Transportation, most of the citizens of America worked form home then drive to mas travel (2017). A survey conducted in 2018 bu the American community Survey states that 5.3% (National), 5.2% (Urban), 5.9% (Ruler) workers engage through the home last week. By Bureau of Labor Statistics states that approx. 23.7% of workers are those who worked some hours at home. As per the National Household Travel Survey conducted in 2017 states that 11.9% are those workers who usually work from home.


As per the Telework Association and Council, on average the productivity of employees has increased to 22% whereby turnover and absenteeism has been decreased to 20% and 60% respectively.
